February’s hottest housing markets were largely characterized by strong demand and relative affordability, making low-cost Northeastern metros popular among budget-conscious buyers. Manchester-Nashua, N.H., and Rochester, N.Y., were tied for the top spot in February, though Manchester-Nashua’s typical $562,000 price tag is above the national median.
After being absent for seven months, markets in the West returned to the list in February, but the Northeast held the majority of the top spots. Of all of February’s hottest markets, 13 had median listing prices below the national median, but Akron, Ohio, had the lowest median listing price of $180,000, Realtor.com reports.
The Northeast had a very hot month, holding 9 spots on February’s list and garnering an average of 2.4 times the number of views per property as the typical US home. The hottest markets included two locales from Massachusetts and Connecticut, and one each from Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New York and New Hampshire.
