If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to your rookie self just entering the home building industry?
It's a question that two previous Pro Builder Forty Under 40 honorees answered on HorizonTV this week. Matt Wilson, executive vice president of innovation at Maronda Homes, and Monica Wheaton, director of customer success for residential home construction at ECI Software Solutions, look back on their years in the industry to tell newcomers what they should know.
“As a rookie, I empower you to break down the silos,” says Wilson. “If you’re in the marketing department, learn how production works. If you’re a salesperson, understand that simple little change order you did, how much effect that has on other people. If you’re in the software department or the IT department, understand that all users aren’t created equal.”
