The $50-million Carson Group headquarters features a six-story office structure joined to a four-story tower by an amenity hub. Both buildings use electrochromic envelopes to reduce energy loads and emissions.

The team selected a structural steel system because of its flexibility and ease of erection. Steel-braced frames provide the lateral system. The selection helped keep the 20-month project on schedule.

While many underlying engineering systems are shared between the two buildings–such as duct sizes and the innovative envelope–other systems had to be designed and built separately to accommodate different occupants. Proactive ordering of materials allowed work to progress on time and on budget and was critical in the construction of a skybridge that required an internationally sourced steel X-column system.

The project completed on time and on budget in May 2021 with no OSHA recordable incidents and no lost-time accidents.
