A 22-year-old has big goals to change the future of home building, and he may be on to something. His goal is to streamline home building by taking the arduous process of buying land, picking a floor plan, then finding a builder and simplifying it into a few clicks. Nick Donahue’s startup, Atmos, has raised $2 million in funding and is backed up by a well-known Silicon Valley startup accelerator, Y Combinator, according to The News & Observer. Donahue sees a future of city dwellers and company headquarters mass moving to more affordable areas, and he thinks it's a perfect opportunity for Atmos to step in.
In a different world, Nick Donahue would have just graduated from N.C. State University with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Instead of virtually crossing the graduation stage, though, Donahue was busy raising $2 million for his startup, which is part of the most recent class of companies at the prestigious Silicon Valley startup accelerator Y Combinator.
And while he may have left North Carolina for California, his young company considers the Triangle an important bellwether of its viability.
