PP O’Connor wins Fiddlers Ferry blow down

Manchester demolition contractor PP O’Connor has clinched the job to blow down the cooling towers at Warrington’s iconic Fiddlers Ferry power station. The first stage of demolition will include the phased demolition of the coal stock yard, four northern cooling towers and some of the former administrative buildings to the north of the site. It is anticipated the site’s cooling towers will be blown down by the end of January 2024.

LHC Procurement Group’s Fire Safety (FS2) Framework is now open for prospective suppliers across the country to apply until mid-August. McAvoy seals £37m deal for modular Essex school

Offsite specialist McAvoy has signed off a £37.5m deal to build a new eight-form secondary school building to be located in Grays, Essex. Work on the new Orsett Heath Academy is set to start on site this August. The project suffered a major delay moving to construction as a result of the collapse of offsite specialist Caledonian Modular, which originally was in line to deliver the three-storey school building.
