A visit to Karacadir

When we recently passed through San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, we wanted to connect with Andy Watson and Dorothy Gerhart, who run Karacadir, a sustainable development learning center. We first met them a couple of years ago when we were in the area, and were impressed with their dedication and vision for establishing this center. They have continued to pursue this vision, and today have established much firmer roots on the large tract of land that they have purchased.

Work Begins on Casa Grande Housing Facility for Nevada Dept. of Corrections

The Korte Company has begun construction on Casa Grande, a 79,540 square foot re-entry transitional housing facility for the Molasky Group of Companies who is privately developing the facility for the Nevada State Department of Corrections. The project utilizes tilt-up concrete panels and consists of three separate buildings, including a single-story administration building and two additional two-story residential buildings.

I had an opportunity to speak with Manuel Sanchez Martinez, who is trained as an architect, but now mainly coordinates various University of Guanajuato programs related to restoration and new urban design, not just in this city but several others. The Korte Company Breaks Ground in Oklahoma for Vance Air Force Base Project

The Korte Company was recently awarded a design-build contract for a multiple task project at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma. The $14.9 million undertaking includes the construction of a 70,000 square foot warehouse and new post office building. Additionally, the project calls for the demolition of ten existing buildings and the remodeling of an existing warehouse.
