I read a post at RFO that said the value for Fixture Units added up along a pipe run were correct at the pipe (in properties) but that tags attached to those pipes did not report a matching value. Three families, two with the same Fixture Units assigned and one rogue. This is using a stock Imperial Plumbing template.

He needed the tag to show as 12x12 (300x300) On the surface it might seem impossible. The units for a Revit project are one or the other, but you can beat this by creating a special Tag family.

When you don't have access to the original Shared Parameter's file there are two ways to get to it, via a family or in a schedule. In a family you need to open Family Types, select the parameter, choose the Edit Parameter button. It is worth noting that a titleblock family does not conform to this scenario.

In Revit 2013 we found a new feature to be quite annoying, double clicking on a room tag would put us in the family editor. With 2014 we received new options to define how Revit should respond to double clicking on a family. If you double click on an editable label in the tag it will place you in edit mode for the parameter.

with the recent update I've noticed that the elevation annotation tags do not update when the their detail number values are changed. I find it necessary to change the annotation type to another or alter a setting in the family before Revit will "wake up" and change the tag to the new value. Uh oh Spagetti O's.

How to use Space Tags Instead of Linked Room Tags. In the past I have used linked architectural views in Revit MEP to show room names, numbers and door tags. In Revit MEP 2011, we can now tag doors directly, allowing us to place door tags by view where we want them. This does not work for room tags.

I just drag this family from the Project Browser and place it in the view. Second we have an older slightly less formal technique using a Noteblock Schedule based on a Generic Annotation family. We have to manage an external keynote file (TXT) and use specific annotation tags that work with this external data. Them: "Huh?

Many door and room tags in the architect's Revit file are just really large and dark when they are linked into your Revit MEP project. We can bring them down a notch by editing these families in the linked architects project file. Open the Architects project file, find an offending tag and select it. Finally close the family.
