Consider that even the families from Autodesk aren't entirely consistent from one to another. That's excellent for doing clash detection.

Always Be Phase Aware In every project file your modeled components have a phase created and a phase demolished parameter whether you like it or not. If you place a model component in a view that is set to the New Construction phase (under View Properties), that component automatically gets placed in the New Construction phase.

If I just imported a project and I cant seem to locate the imported model the first thing I do is setup my radar.
