After high school, he attended college on a baseball scholarship, where he pursued Recreation Management. They hired him on the spot, then put him through a four-year apprenticeship program with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). His graduating class had just 23 kids. Back then, he figured he’d grow up and become a game warden.
