Often, DBB specifications can be adapted with reasonable effort and cost for use on construction manager as advisor (CMa) and construction manager-at-risk (CMAR) projects. EJCDC refers to them as “conceptual documents” and the AIA’s corresponding term is “owner’s criteria.” These are, of course, extremely broad generalizations.
