A package of local government bills introduced on January 29th aim to ensure that Montgomery County, Maryland remains at the sustainability forefront. Bill 3-14 would require newly constructed buildings of 10,000 square feet or more or extensively modified buildings to achieve a Silver certification in the appropriate LEED rating system.

Pennsylvania’s decision to consolidate hundreds of bridge projects into a single procurement financed by a bond fund managed by a new Public-Private Partnership (P3) should serve as a model for the rest of the country. The $722-million project is the largest private-activity bond financing of a public-private partnership in the U.S.

Green Building Certification Institute. USGBC Maryland Chapter. That said, should LEED be a requirement? Is LEED cost effective?
