The Decatur airport provides another important transportation option; with runways of 8,500 feet in length and 150 feet wide the airport is capable of handling large freight carrying aircraft. More than 60 airports are located throughout New Mexico. Three cargo carriers serve the airport: Federal Express, DHL and UPS.

In 2001 the MRZ designation was renewed for the former Williams Air Force Base, now known as Williams Gateway Airport. Naval Air Facility in Goodyear, now known as Phoenix/Goodyear Airport, was designated as an MRZ. Program regulations are currently being drafted to include the expanded definition for “Advanced Manufacturers.”
