After several months of work, the Draft EIR for the Super Wal-Mart project is now complete and is currently being circulated for review. It is anticipated that the Draft EIR will be brought before the Planning Commission for certification in March 2013. Barstow is strategically situated midway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

The added height is needed to accommodate huge container ships traveling from an expanded Panama Canal to terminals in Newark, Elizabeth and Staten Island on the Kill Van Kull.

The BNSF and Union Pacific railroads provide direct service to the Ports of Long Beach and Houston, as well as ports of entry at the Mexican and Canadian borders. The Santa Teresa and Columbus ports-of-entry have overweight cargo zones with a six-mile radius for trucks carrying a reducible load up to 96,000 lbs.
