Nissan is adding the Nissan Sentra compact vehicle to the plant’s production line-up, and the addition of the Sentra, along with an increase in production capacity, will create 1,000 new jobs at the central Mississippi plant and bring Nissan’s total employment in Canton to more than 4,500 workers. Bobby Jindal and Frank Vingerhoets, Katoen Natie’s president of petrochemicals in North America, have announced that Katoen Natie USA will invest $150 million to build a plastics storage, custom packaging and distribution facility for producers of petrochemical products in Baton Rouge. The logistics platform will create 210 new direct jobs.
