Just because I do not enjoy modeling with Revit, I can keep an eye on what is happening in the industry, especially while the authors of my tool of choice are merrily basking in their achievements having ‘invented’ the ‘Year of the stair’. And BIM is going on the back seat big time. There is nothing wrong with the concept.

Search for BIM in AEC – and you’ll find the concept “paper based” mentioned often as the problem that needs to be overcome to DO BIM; I disagree. Skills the industry lacks. Building Information Modeling (BIM) can be a valuable tool in the hands of anyone who works in construction. That’s why, it’s critical for all construction agents to be aware of the different BIM maturity levels. Before we go further with that, it would really be useful to try to define what BIM actually means.
