For the past three years, the NAHB has been fighting to restore an exemption for water and sewer contributions in aid of construction (CIAC). . The new law ends a tax liability for builders installing new water or sewer infrastructure to support additional housing in areas served by a corporate, for-profit water utility.

The County also approved the funding for the Town of Lanesville and the Harrison County Regional Sewer District to cooperatively extend a sewer line from the Lanesville Treatment plant. The Cannelton Sewer Pipe Company continues to produce clay pipe while Consolidated Recycling continues to clean fluids and anti-freezes for re-use.

The Carolinas Gateway Partnership is a public-private partnership for the North Carolina Counties of Edgecombe and Nash, which is the Rocky Mount metropolitan area, including the Town of Tarboro and the Town of Nashville. The county also approved sewer extensions for the other 270-acre industrial park that is two miles off the interstate.
