The BRE Ethical Labour Sourcing Standard can be seen as responding to Great Britain’s Modern Slavery Act 2015 , which sets a basic benchmark for ethical business practice in the sourcing of labour and contains significant measures aimed at preventing forced labour and human trafficking.

And we have advised companies seeking to produce their annual statements required by the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. As an option, we can further assist them with an independent third party certification to mitigate any risk in showcasing their ethical sourcing credentials. But today’s ESG statements are only a very small step.

For FY16 (July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016) EDD has received an appropriation of $50 million in LEDA CO. A certificate of eligibility must be obtained from the Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department to apply for this credit. The credit may be carried forward for four years from the date of the certificate of eligibility.

Qualified jobs must be occupied for at least 48 weeks by the employee and: Pay at least $28,000/year in a community with a population of less than 40,000 for jobs created prior to June 30, 2015 or $40,000/year for jobs created after July 1, 2015. Companies must be less than 5-years old; have an annual payroll between $100,000 and $1 million; show proof of an equity investment of at least $250,000; pay at least 150 percent of the lesser of the state or county average hourly wage where the business is located; and meet requisite payroll thresholds. Employees must be Arkansas taxpayers.

Effective for facilities placed into service between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2015. If applying for a transferable credit certificate, no more than half the credit may be applied in a single calendar year. The credit is capped at the lesser of $15 million or 25% of costs to establish the facility.
