Applying a range of bold colours to represent different types of concrete (grey!) structures rarely made sense to people that happily documented everything in black on white. I said, that colours could play a large part in demystifying AEC documentations for clients, contractors and everyone else involved.

The contrast of texture is a method that draws attention to a particular point or place of a design by the texture. Visual weight is the property that gives elements in a design an ability to draw attention. Whereas if an element has a high visual weight that means that this element has the probability of drawing eyes towards it.

Traditionally, a value that was represented on a drawing may not correctly corresponded with the value within the specification simply due to a ‘typo’ An example being where a ’60 minute fire door’ has been recorded on the drawing but has been recorded as ’90 minutes fire rating’ within the specification.
