BIM objects are much more than just graphical representations. All BIM objects have properties, and most also have geometries (although some do not, for example a paint finish). The specification is part of the project BIM, and objects live in the specification. ‘A new generation of specifiers is being empowered by BIM.

To add to the complexity, the as-built drawings we had on file were not accurate to the true construction of the existing structure because the original architect had improvised the design during construction. First off (before you get upset at my comments) You guys are doing great work for Revit and BIM!!! I completely understand the desire to replicate your graphic standards and the like but in-place families mostly detract from a BIM, rather than add to them. especially as documents became a secondary deliverable to the coordinated BIM.

This workaround involves drawing a repeating detail line (with imported text) on top of a simple detail line. Now draw a detail line in any view of your project. Draw your repeating detail over your new detail line as though tracing the detail line. National BIM Standards. GSA BIM Resource. BIM & BEAM.
