The good news is that a recently proposed set of guidelines is being embraced as the starting point for negotiations between international players in the Arctic development sweepstakes. Environmental activists already are expressing concern about the lack of specific environmental regulations in the Council’s framework for the Arctic.

In addition to the 800 jobs that will be created at the Baton Rouge facility over the next four years, LSU estimates the project will result in approximately 542 new indirect jobs, for a total of approximately 1,342 new, permanent jobs in the Capital Region. Total investment for the combined development is estimated to be $55 million.
