. . The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved a construction permit for the $3.8 billion Dakota Access Pipeline, reports The News Tribune. South Dakota is the first of the four states to approve the project.

Nebraska's Public Service Commission voted 3-2 to allow the expansion of the Keystone XL Pipeline to expand into their state. The 2,600+ mile long line stretches from the Dakotas to Texas. The commission’s decision is a legal decision subject to appeal, something opponents of the pipeline have said they will do.
