One of the 2 best model coordinators we ever had, he now calls himself a FIM, for Fabrication Information Manager. A couple of years later (2005 is my guess) I went to a presentation that I found interesting, somewhat bizarre. It’s been almost 2 years since we parted ways and I think of him as a dear friend.

As the project progresses, you can pass model data back and forth easily as long as you export by specifying the correct project units and Shared Coordinates each time. Of course this assumes that the civil engineer is not sitting right next to “us”, the architect or structural engineer. ► 2005. (73).

The concept of View Discipline appeared with Revit Structure. It was meant to make it simple to alter the appearance of our model to be more in sync with what a structural engineer wants to see. 3)The changes that Discipline applies should be indicated in Visibility Graphics (halftoning to model category, etc.)

That could mean structural engineers are too smart for it, or just werent interested in a book, or that the authors, editors and publisher didnt do a good enough job marketing it, or that it just wasnt very good. Steve, I still cherish the AU 2005 lab handout "Building a better door" (if I recall the name correctly).
