Area plans could help document such things but then floor plans would be "ignorant" of what these kinds of "areas" are, no tagging possible, just "dumb text". They are documenting what is dedicated to what and identifying them using the feature as intended by the developers. Blog Listing - BIM and Misc. Not ideal either.

First off (before you get upset at my comments) You guys are doing great work for Revit and BIM!!! I completely understand the desire to replicate your graphic standards and the like but in-place families mostly detract from a BIM, rather than add to them. especially as documents became a secondary deliverable to the coordinated BIM.

To add to the complexity, the as-built drawings we had on file were not accurate to the true construction of the existing structure because the original architect had improvised the design during construction. The model is not clean enough to develop construction documents so we have passed along that task to another architect.

you can draw a simple building and link in a simple building (by shared coordinates) and move these two icons around a bit (clipped and unclipped) to see how the two models react or.
