In this phase, the production and sharing of the information are taking place with the help of paper and non-interoperable electronic documents. CAD drawings are used during Level 0, but there is no sharing of the generated information models. Softwares like Aconex or Viewpoint can be used as the CDE.

It is the ‘drawing based’ approach that is causing us trouble. Drawing based is centred on the ‘projection technique’ (i.e. orthogonal projection – what 2D technical drawings are ‘made’ from) a risky solution that requires high level of skills from the operators.
