Files | Open and Edit DWG with AutoCAD (web app). From within Files, users can now right click on a.dwg file type to open the drawing within the AutoCAD web app, exposing the use of native AutoCAD tools (viewing and editing). NOTE: Once the file is clicked, a new tab is opened, exposing the AutoCAD web interface.

In AutoCAD you can add text to linetypes but youll notice that in Revit you cant. This workaround involves drawing a repeating detail line (with imported text) on top of a simple detail line. Type out the text you want in AutoCAD (at a height of say 6") and save as a DWG. Now draw a detail line in any view of your project.

Clients team with us for a spec review to analyze generator sizing, refine budget considerations, access AutoCAD files and review construction documents so everything is correct and no money goes to waste. The office I worked for didnt use Revit for developing working drawings but I do remember wishing that I could add text to linestyles (for phone, elec, gas, etc) and I remember having trouble understanding phases but I got a lot of help from users on Zoogdesign (now AUGI). This is a great way to "freeze" a drawing, without having to export to CAD, and it keeps everything in the model. Autocad users can rejoice, Revits UI now supports activating a modifier command (such as Copy, Rotate or Move) before selecting any elements. Revit Zone. So what about these subtle changes? All Things BIM.

A common thing for beginners, is to go right to the trim tool in search of a fillet option (because they are likely more familiar with AutoCAD). If you are drawing a wall or a line there is a pallet of line shapes that you can draw (square, polygon, circle, arc, etc.) Revit Zone. Revit Learning Club. Revit OpEd.
