There’s no doubt that local businesses will have much to celebrate if on October 2, 2009, Chicago wins the 2016 Summer Olympics bid. But just how would Chicago hosting the Olympics affect the city’s restaurant and retail construction activity ? Here are a couple of my predictions…. I say back the bid! Bill Di Santo.

Now some of you may say retailers are crazy for opening new locations or expanding into new shopping centers at this time and that they should just update current stores with a construction renovation. In the post I said we should “Look for a solid increase in construction renovations versus new locations, which should hold especially true with new retail construction.” Phones are ringing, there are retail construction projects to bid on and commercial construction permits to pull. Think I’ll give myself a “B” on that one.
