The City of Rockville, Maryland has adopted the International Green Construction Code 2012 as mandatory for all commercial and multi family building. Prior to occupancy, the applicant must provide a commissioning report and letter certifying owner receipt of building operations and maintenance documents.

The voluntary density bonus is so valuable in the suburban DC market that in the last 4 years, all but one building approved committed to LEED certification. All commercial office projects earning bonus density must also agree to earn Energy Star building certification within 4 years of occupancy.
