We have one model that was started in Revit before we knew any of the limitations of Revit. The task was to demolish a 1980s addition, restoring the building to its original design, and then adding our own additions. The model is not clean enough to develop construction documents so we have passed along that task to another architect.

Once an as-built model is done you might want to archive a copy of the model just incase the design scope changes and you have to start all over again with a clean as-built. The model builder is going to have to do partial demolition of walls, floors, roofs, ceilings, etc.

Some food for thought: Could it (read that as "it will") be better to let the walls be modeled as they will be built (with dead spaces in between), rather than using in-place walls that simply mimic old methodologies, like CAD or Hand drawn lines filled with poche or hatching? It is more suited to a model that is about graphics.

If you know photoshop, using this software is a snap. It loaded viewing the model from the bottom of the floor, under the building. I tried to reload it and checked as many settings as I could in Revit to try and find out why the model loaded this way in Impression. We design traditional, high-end residential work.

We often have split level projects and weve had a lot of trouble isolating the stem walls and footings from the rest of the model for use in a foundation plan.
