Green Building Law Update

In a recent review of contracts involving green building construction projects, less than 20% had properly drafted provisions addressing green building matters. More than 60% of that subset was in jurisdictions with a mandatory green building law creating liability for the architect among others.

The Illinois Supreme Court, in Gillespie Community Unit School District No. The School District wanted to build an elementary school in Benld, Illinois. Within a few weeks of the subsidence event, the Illinois State Board of Education determined that the damage was so severe that the building was condemned.
