Today, April 4, the design proposal for Amazon’s newest building is scheduled to be presented at a Downtown Design Review meeting. The 17-story, 405,000-sf building, which is being designed by Graphite Design Group, will sit at the site of a former hotel at 2205 Seventh Avenue in Seattle.

One worker was crushed to death and another injured while building a reinforced cinderblock wall for a new car dealership in El Cajon, Calif., Monday afternoon. The two men were digging footings next to the wall when it collapsed, fire officials said. One of them, a 21-year-old man, was pushed back and not trapped underneath the structure. He injured his leg and back.

Howard Elkus, FAIA, RIBA, LEED AP, cofounder of the Boston-based architectural firm Elkus Manfredi Architects, died on April 1 in Palm Beach, Fla., 11 days before his 79 th birthday. The firm announced his passing on April 3 but did not disclose the cause of death or information about survivors.
