I created a video to describe what happens when Revit contours dont quite match up with the underlying cad file contours that were used to generate a toposurface. The first part of the video explains that the Site Settings usually dont match the contour interval settings of the cad source file. Book - Introducing Revit Architecture.

For example Ive tried to draw squares and cubes, even circles and spheres to test the extremes and predict the trigger of the error messages Ive written about before. This manifests itself in snap icons that appear to miss the element we are attempting to reference in the CAD file. Now i snap on the 2d element rather then cad.
