I consider myself to be a model-based construction information practitioner (shortened to a ‘BIM- meddler’) rather than an ‘expert’ or even ‘specialist’ Tuesday, April 10, 2012. My personal preference is to use a data schema (format) to document this so it become measurable over time.

First off (before you get upset at my comments) You guys are doing great work for Revit and BIM!!! I completely understand the desire to replicate your graphic standards and the like but in-place families mostly detract from a BIM, rather than add to them. especially as documents became a secondary deliverable to the coordinated BIM.

To add to the complexity, the as-built drawings we had on file were not accurate to the true construction of the existing structure because the original architect had improvised the design during construction. The model is not clean enough to develop construction documents so we have passed along that task to another architect.

you can draw a simple building and link in a simple building (by shared coordinates) and move these two icons around a bit (clipped and unclipped) to see how the two models react or. It's a bit of a pity that these things do not seem to be so wll documented in the helpfiles. National BIM Standards. GSA BIM Resource.

We decided that we also wanted to be able to sort the sheets in our project browser (and our drawing lists) by Submittal Package. and check the category Drawing Sheets. Drawing List. Leave the name Drawing List. The Drawing List on our coversheet shows ALL the drawings from ALL the different packages.

It started off with CAD, then, when BIM was getting strong enough to stay – it extended over almost anything to do with Construction Information Management. Almost, I state – as the non-graphical data management is still somewhat outside its claws, i.e. project, people and time document management.
