The Maryland General Assembly, the state’s legislative body meets in regular session for 90 days each year beginning the second Wednesday in January to act on more than 2,500 pieces of legislation. Maryland has been described as having more pages of environmental statutes and regulations on a per capita basis than any other state.

The new electric utility incentive is available for construction of a new commercial facility that is LEED certified from between $2,000 and $10,000. A regulatory required program in Maryland, available through BGE and other utilities, encourages energy savings pursued through the LEED credit for implementing Enhanced Commission Services.
