Last week the American Institute of Architects released the 2017 edition of the A201 family of contract documents, including updated versions of the AIA’s documents developed for the design-bid-build delivery model. The previous version of the design-bid-build contract documents included a Sustainable Project version.

Often just considered 3D design, building information modeling (BIM) also acts as a collaborative work platform. Level 0 : Level 0 entails basically no collaboration, and only 2D CAD drafting is used. Level 1 : Level 1 BIM is a combination of 3D CAD and 2D for drafting. Asset Information Model (AIM). On the left of this spectrum, you have those Design-Build projects that use bridging documents, lowest bidder selection, and a team that doesn’t work well together. On top of that, now you’ve divided your design team into two groups: the architects who did the bridging documents, and the architects who finish the project.

We have one model that was started in Revit before we knew any of the limitations of Revit. The model is not clean enough to develop construction documents so we have passed along that task to another architect. Green Revit. Marathon Drafting. HOK Green BIM. Some food for thought: Could it (read that as "it will") be better to let the walls be modeled as they will be built (with dead spaces in between), rather than using in-place walls that simply mimic old methodologies, like CAD or Hand drawn lines filled with poche or hatching? It is more suited to a model that is about graphics.

you can draw a simple building and link in a simple building (by shared coordinates) and move these two icons around a bit (clipped and unclipped) to see how the two models react or.
