Project Update: UMaine Shawn Walsh and Alfond Arena

After completing some enabling and selective demolition work, PC was excited to get to work on the Shawn Walsh and Alfond Arena Renovations and Additions project last month following UMaine’s commencement ceremony. The PC team is currently underway with underground site utilities and prepping for foundations that will begin this week. Originally built in 1977, there have been several additions and renovations to the Alfond Arena and the connection to the Shawn Walsh building.

Construction input prices decreased 0.9% in May compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index data. Nonresidential construction input prices decreased 0.8% for the month. Overall construction input prices are 2.1% higher than a year ago, while nonresidential construction input prices are 2.2% higher.
