Im not talking about software bugs that wont go away until youve installed a software update. like the change is some new data for the model. I upgraded a model once, from Revit 2009 to Revit 2011, and an odd thing happened. This can reset data in the model. in 2002 and am currently a member of AUGI.

Lets say you have a project with worksets enabled and the whole model is on Workset 1 by default. No one else is going to be able to edit ANY modeled elements that are on that workset. or do a save to central and relenquish user-created worksets so other users can work on the model too. in 2002 and am currently a member of AUGI.

Always Be Phase Aware In every project file your modeled components have a phase created and a phase demolished parameter whether you like it or not. If you place a model component in a view that is set to the New Construction phase (under View Properties), that component automatically gets placed in the New Construction phase.

If I just imported a project and I cant seem to locate the imported model the first thing I do is setup my radar. Once an as-built model is done you might want to archive a copy of the model just incase the design scope changes and you have to start all over again with a clean as-built. The model builder is going to have to do partial demolition of walls, floors, roofs, ceilings, etc.

I completely understand the desire to replicate your graphic standards and the like but in-place families mostly detract from a BIM, rather than add to them. Plus in-place families detract from performance of the team, model and file.

Are you having trouble distinguishing detail lines from model lines in a view? Well, the easiest way to separate view specific content from model content in a view is to place a temporary filled region with a Solid Fill Pattern that covers the entire view (choose a neutral color). If you know photoshop, using this software is a snap. It loaded viewing the model from the bottom of the floor, under the building. I tried to reload it and checked as many settings as I could in Revit to try and find out why the model loaded this way in Impression. in 2002 and am currently a member of AUGI. BIM & BEAM.

This isnt necessarily a bad habit as long as they are using detail lines and not model lines (detail lines are view specific but model lines will show up everywhere). elevations, sections, 3D views, etc (similar to model lines) and youll have to adjust its visibility one view at a time. and Import your linked survey then it will export with the rest of your model to DWG format. The survey needs to be a part of the Revit model or Revit wont consider it when exporting your site plan to DWG.

We often have split level projects and weve had a lot of trouble isolating the stem walls and footings from the rest of the model for use in a foundation plan.
