I completely understand the desire to replicate your graphic standards and the like but in-place families mostly detract from a BIM, rather than add to them. In-place Cavity Walls. Remember me?

This workaround involves drawing a repeating detail line (with imported text) on top of a simple detail line. Goto Drafting. Now draw a detail line in any view of your project. Draw your repeating detail over your new detail line as though tracing the detail line. National BIM Standards. GSA BIM Resource.
