This approach is somewhat surprising considering that in most contemporary construction contracts PDF’s as the digital representations of drawings have often higher standing than model files or even DWGs. It is being treated as something one puts up with until something better comes along.

I started learning technical drafting on my father’s drawing machine, the type with two rulers fixed at right angle to each other but adjustable to any angle through a button. (he he was a mechanical engineer and we had a couple of those around our house) My teacher told me off. It was totally inappropriate.

The contrast of texture is a method that draws attention to a particular point or place of a design by the texture. Visual weight is the property that gives elements in a design an ability to draw attention. Whereas if an element has a high visual weight that means that this element has the probability of drawing eyes towards it.

I’ve been known for criticizing Autodesk for many years and people tend to brush it off as ‘sour grapes’ – me being jealous that they’ve beaten Graphisoft’s ArchiCAD into ground – the current software of my choice. On the lines of any BIM is better than CAD and any CAD is better than hand drawing? And how about the ‘old and wise’ ones?
