About a year ago GS rebranded its ArchiCAD, its logo turning from a somewhat curvy A to an arch with a point. I’d rather be known as an expert in a toolset that requires an additional clarification of ‘you know, used to be called ArchiCAD’ then just … ‘you know, ArchiCAD’. Revit is better, even if people often mispronounce it.

When I started with ArchiCAD some 27 years ago, I did not think we’d grow old together. I learned to use the blimming thing and added to the knowledge over and over, wore the badge of the weirdo ArchiCAD user with pride. Revit is still worse than that. Where is the Archicad equivalent of their time? Or Revit (Sonata?)

And they are not bad with their tools; In fact, the ‘A team’ can cook up a pretty cool Revit model in a pretty good time frame. So, my dear readers – Revit enthusiasts, put me right: Can you vary those slopes in Revit? Then, Revit popped out its own representation of tools for these two and GS was forced to counter-act.

Okay, I know they are trying… “they” being major “BIM” vendors such as Autodesk/Revit…and a far second Graphisoft/Archicad. But, are these folks a significant part of the reason why BIM isn’t taking hold? Why BIM is so misunderstood? ” – Really?
