Ive been teaching our office how to use Revit Architecture. In AutoCAD you can add text to linetypes but youll notice that in Revit you cant. Ive been teaching our office how to use Revit Architecture. The office eventually moved on to PCs and we used AutoCAD for a short time. When Revit Systems was released in 2006, the essence of Autodesks marketing commentary was, "this is new software so it probably doesnt make sense to tackle a project with it unless the architecture team is using Revit too." We dont have to assume the burden of modelling the architecture or structure to get something out of the effort.

When you have a large project and you want multiple users editing a project at the same time you have to impliment Worksets because Revit typically keeps all project data in a single project file unlike Autocad where we typically separate the project into multiple files.

No matter what software you are using, they fall into three general categories: digital drafting, object oriented and parametric. Digital Drafting (AutoCAD) Digital representation of classic hand drawn documents. Revit Systems imports and exports to AutoCAD, MicroStation and Sketch Up formats directly. See figure 2.
