About a year ago GS rebranded its ArchiCAD, its logo turning from a somewhat curvy A to an arch with a point. I’d rather be known as an expert in a toolset that requires an additional clarification of ‘you know, used to be called ArchiCAD’ then just … ‘you know, ArchiCAD’. I badgered them about the ArchiCAD name, even then.

That said, BIM has been preoccupied with 3D visualization to the extent that many/most feel that Revit, Archicad, et al are all that’s needed to implement BIM. Organizations don’t deal well with change. An ontology enables replicable processes, reusable data, information sharing, low cost of decision support, etc.

My contributions to my own blogs had been mooted to an almost full silence and I never upgraded to ArchiCAD 17, though I expect the launch of 18 to be soon. I now got myself a job that has nothing to do with BIM. I am staying away from most online or real-life BIM interest groups.

Just as by opening someones CAD file 20 years ago and seeing pen-colours not set to ‘by-layers’ indicated a sloppy organization, a good set of eyes can read numerous things from drawings nowadays. Archicad at its best). Well, if the game truly sharpens up within the industry, it will matter. at 7:34 AM. Now, these are nice!

This project isnt as organic as Gaudi, but it did have a lot of organic characteristics. ArchiCAD vs Revit. The project is an existing 30,000 square foot custom residence built in the 1920s. The task was to demolish a 1980s addition, restoring the building to its original design, and then adding our own additions. CAD Digest.
