The Grid time entry feature inside the software provide similar functionality of a spreadsheet and it helps the users to monitor time and productivity in a grid.

In the end, they are ‘just’ a software provider, successful at what they are doing, why can’t I just let them be. I’ve learned AutoCAD on DOS, in 3D with no mouse in the early 1990s. I owned professional licences of AutoCAD, Revit, Studio Max for many years. My biggest problem is not that Revit is a ‘dog of a software’.

Why should I walk away from a proven product like AutoCAD, when I have so much invested in it? Of course the answer can be different for everyone of them depending on individual needs and uses of the software, but I would like to offer up what I see as the big ticket items that make ABS so appealing. I can plot to DWF and 3D DWF.

In AutoCAD you can add text to linetypes but youll notice that in Revit you cant. This workaround involves drawing a repeating detail line (with imported text) on top of a simple detail line. Type out the text you want in AutoCAD (at a height of say 6") and save as a DWG. Goto Drafting. Marathon Drafting.

The office I worked for didnt use Revit for developing working drawings but I do remember wishing that I could add text to linestyles (for phone, elec, gas, etc) and I remember having trouble understanding phases but I got a lot of help from users on Zoogdesign (now AUGI). We have Autocad, we have Sketch-Up, we have Revit, and all the various permutations thereof. Most people do not want to understand why they should take the extra step to input data in some new fangled software. What am I interested in? This also helps in lessening the issue of maintaining two models simultaneously.
