I documented full houses in 3D ArchiCAD 20 years ago in our design studio, while she looked after our children. I designed and modelled iconic commercial buildings in Teamwork Architecture when we moved to a bigger town 15 years ago. Almost thirty years ago, I was first talking about computer modelling of buildings.

Skeptics will say, that was no BIM, just 3D, but the fact is that I used 3D for documenting full buildings from the first day I learned ArchiCAD (4.5), applied appropriate materials (meta data!) – and jumped on the first opportunity of doing 4D models when I came across, the then extremely buggy and highly temperamental Construction Simulation.

There exists a significant number of commercially available tools to collect, track, distribute, measure-off, even mark-up these drawings electronically. Archicad at its best). sections, details, elevations…); Should not be too difficult, should it? Reconstructing drawing-sets and the case of the 'G. Now, these are nice!

At least half are remodels in either commercial or residential. A demo phase would likely not be necessary for many types of commercial remodels and tenant improvements but it has saved me a lot of frustration and time on more awkward remodels like in custom residential projects.
