Labels: Materials , Patterns , Rendering. How do you model the roof and ridge roll? How do you model the roof such that the roof tile is all in 3D? With the exception of the rake and ridge, my tiles are just a material. If you want to 3d model all the roof tiles there is a shortcut posted on AUGI using sloped glazing.

Once you have your building(s) modelled start a new project. Link your building(s) into your new site model and adjust their elevation and orientation so they are properly located in the topography. Once an as-built model is done you might want to archive a copy of the model just incase the design scope changes and you have to start all over again with a clean as-built. The model builder is going to have to do partial demolition of walls, floors, roofs, ceilings, etc.

Some food for thought: Could it (read that as "it will") be better to let the walls be modeled as they will be built (with dead spaces in between), rather than using in-place walls that simply mimic old methodologies, like CAD or Hand drawn lines filled with poche or hatching? It is more suited to a model that is about graphics.

If you want to estimate the total cost of the project by materials used then setup one of Revits new Material Takeoff Schedules: 1. Some materials are estimated in Cost Per Linear Foot, some in Cost Per Square Foot, some in Cost Per Cubic Yard so I would first setup new project parameters for each estimate (Cost PLF & Cost PSF).

It loaded viewing the model from the bottom of the floor, under the building.
