Ive been teaching our office how to use Revit Architecture. The office eventually moved on to PCs and we used AutoCAD for a short time. The first thing is I dont think the next big innovation will really be in what we might call the traditional "CAD (Computer Aided Design)" space. We have Autocad, we have Sketch-Up, we have Revit, and all the various permutations thereof.

When Revit Systems was released in 2006, the essence of Autodesks marketing commentary was, "this is new software so it probably doesnt make sense to tackle a project with it unless the architecture team is using Revit too." We will still be able to compare our model against 2D documentation by importing various 2D CAD views into the model.

Ive been teaching our office how to use Revit Architecture. When you have a large project and you want multiple users editing a project at the same time you have to impliment Worksets because Revit typically keeps all project data in a single project file unlike Autocad where we typically separate the project into multiple files.

The important thing to keep in mind for collaborating with your architectural clients is communicating what they can expect of you and developing new procedures in house to deal with a single Revit project file instead of multiple DWGs or DGNs.
