I owned professional licences of AutoCAD, Revit, Studio Max for many years. 3/ information management tool providers (unlike in manual drafting days) got given an unprecedented opening to influence a globally active industry. Why should I walk away from a proven product like AutoCAD, when I have so much invested in it? These are very valid questions that many CAD Managers and Owners are asking themselves lately. Translating standard details from AutoCAD to Revit: Now, you can import DWGs into Revit and not do anything else to them. You can also scan details and import them as images but we completely translated our details from PowerCADD to AutoCAD to Revit by way of DWG files so we could improve on their graphic quality once they were imported.

Revit only recognizes the World Coordinate System (WCS) Revit doesn't "see" AutoCAD points, doesn't snap to them, you'll see them but can't "use" them. Revit doesn't "see" or even show AutoCAD Xline or Ray elements. Save details as single cad files not composite "sheets" of details.

We will still be able to compare our model against 2D documentation by importing various 2D CAD views into the model. Is it measured according to the technical drafting staff, the project engineer or manager, the firm, the project or the owner? We can still export to 2D files for them to do the same.
