A VDC rotation slot happened to open up, and at that time I didn’t really know a great deal about VDC. We also want to better visualize that kind of information in a palatable way for our users. . Then empower them through the use of data to visualize the end goal. . I just had a very broad idea of what it was. .

In the past, I tried to use all sorts of parallels to explain this idea, from the ideas of visual skeletons, to coatracks fixed in space, but I still find myself meeting blank stares when I try sharing this as the ‘BIG secret’. That sentence I just wrote, is a mouthful, but do read it again.

This years release I would also say has a bent towards addressing issues that large projects (and therefore mostly large firms) have to deal with. Revamp of CAD export dialog, most importantly settings are stored in the project now, so no more custom export files, except to define specific standards to be used for different clients/jobs.

It could really be true, that I overthink things far too much and it is really not a big deal to get a working BIM going, after all. Now, that she had successfully pulled together a ‘fully functioning BIM team’ in a record time, her willingness to listen to my troubles is even lower. I really don’t mind this at all, she may well be right.

We can’t rely on this mapping being delivered through the geometrical part of BIM (CAD) since many systems and products are not modelled geometrically at all. It has a construction phase focus, and so has no homes for the specification of high-level objects such as Complexes, so it can’t deal with early project stages.
