Last Friday, the International Code Council and ASHRAE announced they signed an “agreement that the new version of the International Green Construction Code (IgCC), scheduled to be released in 2018, will be powered by” ASHRAE Standard 189.1 for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings. Much of the early reaction has been nonplussed given that, today, there are only a handful of IgCC green buildings. .

Recently I’ve done dozens of Task Based Risk Assessments (TaBRA) for clients, and the experience always reinforces for me the importance of worker input and the relative speed in which an assessment can be performed. My approach, which embraces lean thinking to gain the perspective of the worker, is much more detailed than a job safety analysis. For example, one JSA had 11 total operator steps, with one being for clearing a jam.

Tadano Delivers 1000th Crane

Scott Equipment of Monroe, La., received the 1,000th Tadano GR-1000XL/GR800EX Rough Terrain crane. Scott Equipment President Scott Cummins and Executive Vice President Curley Bordelo and Roger Rivera collected the new crane, from the Tadano America headquarters in Houston, Texas. The unit shipped from the Shido manufacturing plant in Japan.

Cummins Reports 4% Sales Increase in Q2

Cummins Inc. reports results for the second quarter of 2015. Second quarter revenue of $5 billion increased 4 percent from the same quarter in 2014. The increase year-over-year was driven by stronger demand in on-highway markets and distributor acquisitions in North America. Titan International’s new low sidewall (LSW) tyre is on trial at two quarry sites and initial reports seem positive. The LSW tyre has entered the UK market with claims of a more stable and smooth off-highway ride. It has a lower aspect ratio and smaller sidewall than a standard tyre, resulting in an increased wheel diameter with no increase in the outside diameter of the tyre.
