While in school, I got to work with a really strong suite of software including products like AutoCAD and Revit among others which boosted my interest. They just had to click on a model on the iPad to get this high level of detail for the project. I was in charge of a project schedule and used technology often.

I purchased an iPad app, watched a few YouTube videos, and was able to create over 20 customized training videos for BIM 360. I’m doing a lot of the training and tons of research and documentation, but I believe that the future would be similar to how Revit developed. In the future, it should be the same for VDC.

I think that model is what we’ll continue to see moving forward. . I can carry it around on my iPad and in my safety vest. Aside from just doing reality capture, some of these companies use photogrammetry to create 3D models of the site conditions. That point cloud then gets compared to your BIM models and schedule.
