So as long as they cut a local before leaving the main office, and SWC when they get back, it could work very well (as long it does not hold up other people attempting to work on the model at the same time). So, if a user has RS on their laptop and they only open the models they need to open, and not others, then they should be ok.

Outside of being clumsy, the other issue with some of these tools is cost, Codebook for example doesnt work as a business model for small projects, unless youve got the big project(s) to cut your teeth on it and standardize it. This also helps in lessening the issue of maintaining two models simultaneously. Revit Zone.

Interestingly enough, if you get to thinking about it, Sheet Views are really nothing more then a Drafting View whose behavior has been specialized to allow Views of the Model to be added to them. When I first saw the feature my assumption was that it is a modification of the existing Show Work Plane feature that is available in model views.
